| OFE Certifications During the 2004-2005 school year Oak Forest was certified by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as an official Texas Wildlife Habitat! OFE has also been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Schoolyard Habitat! No other school has both certifications! We are also certified as a Demonstration Site! This means that Vivian Cardoso has been trained to teach other schools to do what we do. We encourage other schools to visit us to gather ideas to help them get started! We recently became a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" by Audubon International. Thanks to our sponsorship from and partnership with the Kingwood Country Club, we have been recognized in the January/February 2007 International Audubon newsletter. We are also a member of Urban Harvest, a Houston based organization that promotes gardening and nature in school settings. |
